Philippians 2:1-4 - If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
John 17:23 – May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you send me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Psalm 133:1 – How good and pleasant it is when brothers live in unity
Acts 2:42 – They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Fellowship is one of God’s principle purposes for human beings. Christian fellowship helps promote things like faith, trust, a sense of belonging and purpose in life, honesty about struggles, and life-long friendships. It is necessary for Christians to spur each other on to live lives that glorify Christ. In this we need to build each other up through encouragement, serving one another, accountability in our walk with Christ, and prayer. If we are believers in Christ we are all partners together in Him. Knowing this, we should be like-minded with Christ’s heart and purpose for our lives, using our gifts and talents to serve one another and reaching out to unbelievers in the name of Christ.
